Use carbon fiber to pay attention to what?

Carbon fiber materials have become more and more widely used in the industrial field, and their use has increased. How to make better use of carbon fiber materials, maximize its functions, and reduce misuse? Please see the next explanation.

Cut carbon fiber laminate

Carbon fiber  sheets can be cut using standard tools, from scissors and razors to thinner sheets, abrasive cutting wheels and dremel tools. For cutting many carbon fiber veneers, we recommend using carbide tools, abrasive type cutters or diamond crust tools. Conventional steel tools will cut carbon plates, but because of the wear properties of all carbon steel plates, standard tools wear quickly when used in heavy cutting. The panel can then be easily sanded, allowing you to trim the approach and sand edges to their final size to maintain a smooth, clean edge.

Health and safety considerations

Carbon fiber  dust is non-toxic but slightly irritating to the skin, eyes and lungs, just like fiberglass. We strongly recommend that you wear a dust mask to minimize any itching or tingling, especially when cutting or grinding. The edges can be very sharp, so gloves are also the key to avoid cutting and cutting.

Carbon fiber molding

Carbon fiber  sheets made of epoxy resin are not thermoplastic (thermoformable) - the finished sheet cannot be heated to bend to maintain a curved shape. Carbon fiber  laminates do not stretch like plastics. You can get very limited permanent curvature in one direction above high fever, but due to this difficulty, we do not recommend it. Molded parts can be made, but the carbon fiber fabric must be placed in a mold and epoxy injected before the heating/curing process.

Remember that the flexible carbon fiber board will bend with a simple curve, for example around the pipe, rather than a complex curve like a ball. Some users have successfully reported installing muffler and exhaust pipe with carbon fiber veneer for our adhesive film, but we can't get any specific recommendations for more than 200 applications, and you are welcome to experiment with the heat, but are told that it is completely risky conceited.

Processing capacity

Many people use CNC machine tools to cut carbon fiber sheets, but it is sometimes difficult to keep carbon fiber sheets in the machine. Stain is also an option. Be sure to find a mechanic or cutting machine with carbon fiber work experience or leave us machining. Our experienced CNC staff can handle the most complex cutting jobs.

Waterjet cutters are used for the manufacture of complex, complex shapes or high-volume parts. Our 3M high-performance adhesives can be applied before jetting carbon fiber parts because water does not harm the adhesive and leave a good clean edge on the Carbon fiberboard and adhesive.
