Carbon Fiber Industry: Current Situation, Challenges and Pathways for High-Quality Development

Carbon fiber, recognized as a strategic material worldwide, is known as the "black gold". It holds a significant position in the modern high-tech field. In recent years, China's carbon fiber production capacity has continued to steadily increase, and successive expansions have been achieved. Currently, the expansion pace of the industry has shifted from the previous rapid growth trend and has entered a stable development cycle. The focus of new capacity layout has gradually shifted to diversified and high-value-added categories, continuously facilitating the optimization and upgrading of the entire industry's structure.

In recent years, China's carbon fiber production capacity has consistently ranked at the forefront globally. Since 2021, the domestic production capacity has remained at the top globally, accounting for a significant proportion of the overall global production. At the same time, in 2025, the downstream demand structure of carbon fibers will show significant differences: the wind power industry will have a strong market demand, which is the main application field of carbon fibers; the demand in the sports equipment sector will show a stable trend, with usage remaining at a stable level; relying on the large-scale production of domestic large aircraft and the continuous increase in the application of composite materials in high-end models, the demand for carbon fibers in the aerospace field will achieve a steady increase.
