What are the precautions for using conductive carbon fiber?
Due to the high conductivity of the conductive carbon fiber, its addition amount in the coating is very small. Taking the conductive carbon fiber as an example, after testing, when the addition amount in the solventless epoxy floor coating is 4 ,, the surface of the obtained coating layer The resistance can reach 104Ω. Of course, the surface resistance of the solvent-free (anti-static) self-leveling is also affected by the underlying conductive layer. Depending on the conductivity of the conductive layer, the surface resistance measured by the final topcoat will also be different. By adjusting the amount of conductive carbon fiber added, a conductive (anti-)static coating of different electrical resistance can be obtained. The greater the amount added, the higher the conductivity of the coating, but when a certain amount is reached, the resistance does not substantially change, that is, the maximum conductivity is achieved. In addition, regarding the length of conductive carbon fiber, it is also a concern of many paint engineers. How long is the carbon fiber suitable for use? According to the conductive mechanism of conductive carbon fiber, the longer it is, the easier it is to form a conductive path, and the better the conductivity, but in the actual use process, it must be considered comprehensively. Although the longer the conductivity is, the longer the dispersion in the coating is, the more difficult it is to disperse. In actual use, a length of 3 mm is suitable.
In order for the conductive carbon fiber to function well, its dispersion in the coating is particularly critical. According to the different systems, suitable dispersing aids must be selected. Only when dispersed, can we make uniform and stable coatings. The coatings made by many companies are not conductive, and the problems often appear in the control of the process, or simply added, and do not exert the excellent performance of the conductive materials themselves.
In addition, by comparing with the cost of other conductive additive materials, it was found that the cost of the conductive (anti-)static coating made of conductive carbon fiber was significantly reduced, and the cost of the conductive additive material was only about 20%.
